Kat & Rob
29th April 2017
There are some beautiful places in Wales, and on the morning of this wedding day, I drove up to a tranquil spot in the welsh hills. When my sat nav takes me to some of these beautiful places I wonder how have I never come across them before as they're really not that far away. I drove up to Staylittle - Kat’s parents home. As I arrived the bacon butties were being served, bucks fizz being popped and hair and make-up being done. Everyone was so relaxed and I was so excited to see the bride.
Let me tell you a little about how I met the bride; The Bride aka Kat was a bridesmaid at one of my weddings two years ago, a great wedding where our friendship began. A little merry in the evening Kat said to me (even though she wasn’t yet engaged) “when I get married you are going to be my photographer”, there i was told!!! We laughed and even then I knew she wanted to marry Rob. In April 2016, I received a little message asking me to be their photographer. I looked on the world of Facebook and there it was.... the exciting NEWS.... Rob (aka the Groom to be) had proposed, and of course, Kat said yes! As you can imagine my reply was “abso-bloody-lutely”.
They set their wedding date for their one year proposal anniversary– a special date to remember. I was chuffed to bits to have been asked and as we started talking about her plans the excitement set in. Also, Kim – my previous bride was Kat’s bridesmaid so I knew it was going to be so much fun with these girlies once again!
Anyway now for their wedding story... So picture this, one year on and the day has finally arrived.
Hair and make-up was done beautifully, Kat was a little emotional and adamant that she didn’t want to cry – I kept trying to say it was ok if she did have a little cry - i said knowing me I will probably shed a tear behind the lens at some point haha! She wore a stunning Maggie Sottero dress which had a shimmer of gold which made it look unique. Her twin sister and best friends were her bridesmaids, and all looked beautiful in their dresses.
Bizzy Lizzy's did a fantastic job once again with the flowers; the bouquets and the church flowers were just beautiful - such vibrant colours.
As Kat’s Dad saw her for the first time in her magnificent dress it really was a tear jerker, such a touching moment and I'm glad they had this little alone time to take it all in. It probably feels like a blur now but the day had finally arrived for Dad to walk his little girl down the aisle. I can’t forget to mention they also had the cutest flower girls and pageboys who were very, very excited and did an amazing job walking down the aisle - smiling away.
The wedding ceremony was held at Llanidloes Church, many locals came out to watch Kat’s arrival, I always love this – it’s such a touching community spirit to be proud of.
It was time for Kat to marry the man of her dreams. I remember looking at Rob, who was standing next to his brother and best friend - his Best Men, who got all teary as he watched Livvy, his daughter - their beautiful flower girl walk down the aisle proud as punch being a big girl just before Kat made her entrance. Rob was totally holding it together... Just!!! I looked back up the aisle, waiting.... even I was on pins as I knew how much this meant to them – I was so excited to see them see each other for the first time.
A beautiful service with Rob’s grandparents being their witnesses – a special touch to include such loved ones. As they walked out of church, the new Mr and Mrs Jones, with big beaming smiles on their faces, nerves disappeared ready to be congratulated by their family and friends.
They made their way to their wedding venue, it was held at Maesmawr Hall. Off they went in their wedding cars to start the celebrations.
Lee and his team had done an amazing job at the venue – the reception room was designed beautifully– the details were just gorgeous - with a little help from the fantastic Bizzy Lizzy's and Chillie Breeze! It’s always great to see all the little details of a wedding, all the suppliers’ hard work, all the colours come together and have that wow factor! Their cake was amazing and super special as Rob’s mum had made this – a very talented lady indeed!
As the group photo were taken we headed off for a few couple shots. It's lovely to see the Bride and Groom just be themselves, together for a few moments, have a laugh and have 5 minutes peace to take it all in - we had such a giggle.
Speeches followed, and yeah, I shed a tear, this time it was Kat’s brother who set me off – all speeches were so lovely and it really was humbling listening to them all – from father of the bride, Groom’s mum, Kat’s sister and friends, the best men of course and Robs' speech were all so perfect. This pair are very much loved!
The wedding day was full of fun, the children loved the bouncy castle, Martha the photobooth made an appearance, adding a little fun for the day, for the kids and the big kids!!
Kat wanted to throw her bouquet, so we got all the girls ready, and ooh the competition was on!! A certain young lady wanted it and oh boy was she prepared to get it... and she did! This is actually really cool as since catching the lucky bouquet I’m happy to say the myth is true – this lady is now engaged to be married, congratulations to you x. So next time girlies, if you want him to put a ring on it as Beyoncé says– get prepared to win that bouquet!!!
A lovely first dance followed by a wonderful Father of the bride dance too. Then it was time to dance the night away. The evening entertainment was shamazing!!! A group from Manchester and oh my goodness they were cool. If you haven’t heard of Sax & Percussion Duo – look them up!! It was a little bit of an Ibiza vibe however everyone was in the mood to get their dancing shoes on - everyone loved it. The sax player, played her thing inbetween all the guests dancing - it really was a show. Such a cool band!
Then it was my time to go. All the nerves had gone, no other little tasks for the Bride and Groom to do apart from enjoy their special day with their family and friends and I really hope it was all that they had dreamt of.
I am lucky to say I love what I do and those I meet and when I make a friend out of it that’s just an extra, super bonus.
Wishing you both many many years of happiness and laughter and look forward to seeing your family grow xXx
Kind words from the happy couple:“Thank you so much for capturing our special day! It was so nice to have someone who is a friend be with us during the day. The photo's are amazing and we will treasure them forever!” Mr & Mrs Jones
